Time of year: Fall - just as the leaves start changing and you need to wear a jacket.
Accommodations: Hilton (60 Battery Street, Burlington, Vermont, United States 05401). It is near the airport and right in downtown Burlington, so there would be no need to drive for the whole weekend.
Activities: Walk along the Lake Champlain Park boardwalk, sit in the rocking benches in the Lake Champlain Park and watch the sunset, go shopping on Church Street, sit in the muddy waters cafe and read, and go on a Northern Lights Cruise on Lake Champlain.
Dining: Breakfast: Penny Cluse Cafe, City Market; Lunch: Burlington Bay Cafe, Bangkok Bistro; Dinner: American Flatbread, A Single Pebble.
I would make sure to bring an umbrella and layers of clothing (because you never know with Vermont weather). If I was feeling adventurous, I would go to Burlington in the last weekend of September, rent a car, and drive to Jericho Vermont for a day at Harvest Market. Harvest Market is a mass rummage sale but also includes handmade gifts, fresh produce, and delicious fall treats (including warm apple cider!). |
